The Open Water Diver course will teach you the skills and know-how to become a fully certified scuba diver.   If you are looking to get your PADI Scuba Certification card, this is your course.

During the course, you’ll make a series of pool dives and four open water dives at actual dive sites under the supervision of your PADI Instructor.  Fisheye Scuba will teach you to scuba dive and take you every step of the way to complete your Open Water Scuba Certification in as little as 2 weeks or 2 weekends.  A PADI E-learning option is available where course learnings are completed online at your own time vs specific class room sessions determined by your instructor.

Course Overview

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases...

Step 1 - Knowledge Development: You can choose to complete this portion either online or as a combination of home study and classroom sessions. With PADI's online eLearning program, you can start the knowledge development portion of your course right now in the comfort of your own home. If you'd prefer to complete this step via home study/classroom, we'll provide you with the home-study materials you need when you sign up for the course.

Step 2 - Confined Water Dives: You will will spend approximately 6-8 hours in a swimming pool over 2-3 days learning and practicing new scuba skills. This is where you will have the exhilerating feeling of taking a breath underwater for the very first time.

Step 3 - Open Water Dives. In this phase, you will make 4 dives over a two-day period in an open water environment such as Monterey, Lake Tahoe or a local lake. Here you will put your new skills into action and explore the underwater environment.   Once you've safely completed your 4th dive along, your instructor will complete and submit the paperwork needed for your PADI Diving certification card.

Two-Weekend Course Format

Weekend 1 of the PADI Open Water Scuba Course involves completing your knowledge development and your confined water pool dives.  You will start this part of the course in our classroom reviewing topics you studied while completing your home study.  Your instructor will collect and review your completed knowledge reviews and make sure that you understand anything you missed.   Afterwards you will complete a final exam.  After your first classroom session it will be off to one of our pools for your first set of confined water training dives.  Below is the schedule and locations for where you'll be on this weekend.

Weekend 2 of the PADI Open Water Scuba Course involves completing 4 scuba dives in an open water environment such as Monterey, Lake Tahoe or a local lake.  You will conduct these dives over a two day period and each will be at least 20 minutes long and about 25 feet deep.   Here you will explore the underwater environment and demonstrate for your instructor that you're comfortable performing many of the skills that you have already mastered during your confined water portion of the class.  Upon completion of your 4th dive and any other remaining requirements, your instructor will issue you a temporary certification card and submit paperwork to PADI for your official Open Water Scuba Dive Certification card.  Your official 'C-Card' will arrive in a couple of weeks.
