FishEye Scuba May 2008 Newsletter

Happy May - Spring is officially here! We have lots going on around the store and lots to tell you about – we’re excited to “spring clean” the store – and that’s good news for you.

First, we have two new employees at FishEye, Justin and Race. So far, their retail and customer service skills are much better than their diving skills, but that’s probably because they aren’t certified yet. But don’t worry; we’re getting them up to speed quickly. Stop by and say “Hi” if you haven’t already. It takes an amazing amount of work to keep the store operating effectively and we couldn’t offer our great FishEye service without their help.

We’ve been busy stocking the store and getting ready for the “busy” scuba season. (Does scuba really have a “season”?) We are putting together some exciting gear packages for both Scuba and snorkel gear, so stay tuned for that. Also we are planning a big 2-day sale event for the weekend of May 17th and 18th only, so mark your calendar to stop by that weekend in order to take advantage of some great specials. More details to come. In the meantime....

Congratulations To All Our New Open Water Divers!

Our April Open Water classes were awesome! Congratulations to our new certified Open Water divers!! We had some great students who all passed with flying colors. The conditions in Monterey and locally for the past month have been incredible. This time of year, Monterey can offer some of the best cold water diving available anywhere in the world. Here’s a quick breakdown of the courses and their start dates for the next couple of months. You can always check our website for more details

Taking a specialty course is a great way to get wet, have a great time and hone your dive skills when you can’t be traveling to a world-class dive destination. Plus, you get to learn new things about diving that you probably never knew. For a few of the specialty courses and the Advanced Open Water course, we’ll board the Cypress Sea for a 2-tank charter on JUNE 1st; cost is $88 and we’d love to have you aboard.

Starting this summer, FishEye Scuba will be offering courses through the Folsom Park and Recreation program. We will host Discover Snorkeling & Skin Diving, Project Aware – Coral Reef Conservation, and Digital Underwater Photography along with scuba certifications. Of the three, only Digital Photo requires you to be a certified diver – so your non-diver friends and family can get in on this. The courses will be very attractively priced and offer the option for a PADI specialty certification upon the completion of the course. This is great way to pick up another specialty to put you closer to becoming a Master Scuba Diver. For more details check out the course schedule on our website, or call Fisheye Scuba.

Come Travel With Fisheye Scuba!

Kate had the opportunity to travel to Fiji’s Beqa Lagoon in April and she says Beqa is awesome. The resort is great, the diving is awesome and the whole experience gave her some much needed R&R. Look for her trip report in our next newsletter. We have a group trip booked April 9-18, 2009. If you want the ultimate South Pacific dive vacation, this is it. $3125 includes almost everything - airfare from Sacramento, deluxe accommodations, 2 boat dives daily, 3 meals/day and all land transfers. We only have a 3 spots available for the Channel Islands/Catalina trip June 25-28 – no more time to wait! We have a great group put together for this trip and we’re looking forward to some awesome diving. At $560, it’s a great deal for 3 days of food, lodging and unlimited diving. You’d pay more than that for 3 nights lodging in the Hotel in front of Fisheye--and it wouldn’t even be ocean view! Check in with us soon so we can arrange carpools and save some gas money.

Cozumel is just around the corner. August 2-9 we’ll be at Scuba Club Cozumel. You seriously don’t want to miss out on this trip as it will be a total dive party. We’ve been hearing reports that the diving has been awesome, and the water is 82 degrees and crystal clear. It’s tough not to have a good time in Cozumel with conditions like that. You can help us celebrate FishEye Scuba’s 1st Anniversary in style. Stop by and reserve your space – there are only 5 spaces left.

And finally, we have our second annual Bonaire trip coming up November 13-22, 2008. We were there as our first store-hosted trip in November 2007 and had a blast. Bonaire is truly one of the best dive destinations in the Caribbean. In fact, one of the dive magazines recently voted it as the top Caribbean destination. It’s one of the few places I can think of that does just about everything right. The diving, the people, the food, the weather…it’s a perfect mix. Once you’ve been there you know why they call it a diver’s paradise. Check out this slideshow from our 2007 trip.
