Beginning Open Water Scuba Classes

Learn to scuba dive and earn your PADI Open Water Certification in only 2 weeks!  There are three parts to every beginning course – independent study of scuba basics through books and/or multi-media, pool sessions to learn and practice scuba diving techniques and open water lake or ocean dives to apply all of your new knowledge. Currently, all spring and summer dives are scheduled for Monterey or one of our trip destinations.

FishEye Scuba offers three class formats for independent study – eLearning, Weekends, or Weeknights. eLearning is completed on line at www.PADI.com, weekend and weeknight course information is listed below. Kick-start your certification course by completing your knowledge development sessions online! We’re here to help you if needed; otherwise, bring in your web completion certificate from your PADI online course and choose from either the weekend or weekday schedules to complete your pool and open water diving.

Weekend Classes

Weekend classes meet at FishEye Scuba the first weekend of the course to review scuba course materials studied independently and to participate in pool sessions. Classroom sessions are typically from 8:00 am to Noon, and pool sessions from 1:00 to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The second weekend we travel to an Open Water destination (typically Monterey or Tahoe) for 2 dives each day to complete the certification.

Weekday Classes

Weekday classes are scheduled for 5 evenings from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. Two nights are dedicated to knowledge development while the other 3 are spent in the pool. The second weekend of the scheduled course we’ll travel to an Open Water destination to complete certification requirements.

Advanced Open Water

Apply your Open Water skills to different types of diving. Five dives are included in this action-packed class. Dives vary from class to class, but could include Deep Diver, Underwater Navigation, Night Diver, Underwater Digital Photography, EANx (Nitrox) Diver, Boat Diver, Altitude Diver, Underwater Search and Recovery, Dry Suit Diver and more!

Advanced Open Water with Nitrox Dive

Rescue Diver

Diving is lots of fun… now learn how to care for yourself and others during both planned unplanned events. This is a must-have course for every diver. EFR/CPR certification is required to complete Rescue Diver certification. Be sure to sign up for both classes.

Dive Master

Diver Master is the first level as a PADI Professional. This prestigious certification is earned after mastering a combination of dive skills and theory. This intensive, but rewarding course includes both knowledge development and practical application sessions. Ask us about becoming a PADI Pro!

Emergency First Responder

This hands-on course encompasses Primary (CPR with AED) & Secondary Care (First Aid). Scheduled class content varies for Adult only, OR Adult, Child, and Infant care. If you have a particular certification requirement, please ask; we can train at FishEye Scuba or on location.

Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty

Underwater Digital Photographer

Project Aware

The Project Aware course is a non-diving course designed to familiarize divers and non-divers with the plight of the worldwide aquatic ecosystems. It also describes what you can do to help protect aquatic resources. Divers can earn a certification card, others will be issued a course completion certificate.

Project Aware - Coral Reef Conservation

The Project Aware course is a non-diving course similar to the Project Aware Specialty, but focuses specifically on coral reefs. We'll talk about how coral reef function, why they are important (not just beautiful) and what you can do to help protect reefs and prevent further decline. Divers can earn a certification card, others will be issued a course completion certificate.

Dry Suit Diver

Tired of being cold?? GO DRY! Through pool and open water dives you'll learn the necessary skills you need to effectively use a dry suit. Buoyancy is completely different in a dry suit - sign up for this course to make sure you stay safe and comfortable.

Boat Diver

Want to know how to dive like a pro from a boat? Take the boat diver specialty course! We'll cover not only diving procedures, but also boat know-how so you'll be comfortable on both small crafts and large vessels.

Deep Diver

Going deep to see a cool wreck? Take this course to learn appropriate skills, dive theory, dive planning, organization, procedures, and techniques to dive to deeper recreational limits (60-130 feet). We'll also cover potential problems, hazards, along with the enjoyment of deep diving to cover the whole spectrum.

Altitude Diver

Tahoe!! Enough said. Learn the rules for safe diving at altitude so you can enjoy one of the areas most beautiful lakes. Think about a duo-certification weekend. Two days of 2-tank diving at Tahoe can earn you altitude, as well as Dry Suit, Multi-Level, or Peak Performance Buoyancy, for example. Ask us how to speed up your path to Master Scuba diver.

Multi-Level / Computer Diver

Step up your knowledge about recreational dive planning, using different RDP's, and using your computer. If you don't have a computer yet - it's time! Take this course to learn how to use your dive computer, how you can get more bottom time (safely!) and get the most out your diving experience.
